Working as a Pocketnest Intern week 5: July 13th-July 19th:     Procrastination is hitting heavy right now, and whether it's because the weather is nice, or we are stuck at home and can't focus, it is quite challenging to overcome. I am a HUGE procrastinator , but i have dealt with it for so long that I now know how to manage working independently and working at home. In this week's blog, I will give out 5 tips on dealing with procrastination when working from home! 1. GET UP! Working at home can be great! I love to lay down on the couch with my laptop, because comfort is important. Although it is comfortable, associating your workspace with a place where you go to relax isn't the best decision, and I've learned this the hard way. I tend to procrastinate a lot more when I am laying down, than when I do sitting up. Sitting down at a desk  or changing your work environment can help motivate you. Working as a Pocketnest Intern week 4: July 6th-July 12th:     Planning on creating a video for a company? You will need to make sure the audio you use is copyright free  or royalty free music. This type of music isn't exactly " free ", but usually requires some type of license to be purchased in order to use the desired music.      I recently created a demo for the company I am working with, and I used no attribution, royalty free music from Youtube Audio Library.   No attribution means that you are free to use the given music without giving credit to the artist. I felt like this was the best option to use because youtube audio library supplies absolutely free downloads. This week I ran into an unexpected problem. As the demo was being posted on all social sites and vimeo, facebook gave a "muted video" warning message. Working as a Pocketnest Intern week 3: June 29-July 5th          A challenge I faced this week was considering many suggestions, and trying to accommodate each and every one of them. Working as an intern, it is hard to distinguish what I can or can't do right off the bat. This is why I believe I am going back and forth with trying new ideas and trying to do exactly what the company I am working for wants me to do. I personally love hearing everyone's ideas and suggestions when I turn in my rough cuts. It makes me more creative, and opens up my perspective.      I have been working on the same 50 second project for three whole weeks. Editing takes awhile, and it isn't the most easy task to do in the world. It takes a lot of patience, and perfecting. Working as a Pocketnest Intern week 2: June 22nd-June 28th     Second week of working for Pocketnest has been great. I am receiving great feedback, and I am learning many new things from editing content outside of my comfort zone. At first I wasn't so confident in my editing skills, because dealing with motion graphics is something I am not comfortable with doing. There are some new techniques and tricks I've learned through editing this demo video on premier, that I would love to share. I ran through some problems, and had to figure out a way to overcome them.     1. Blurry exports          Every time I exported my demo, a lot of the graphics seemed to be blurry when played on my laptop. When I played the video on my phone, it was perfectly fine. It was very frustrating to me, since I have never dealt with this problem. I did some quick google searches, and nothing that was suggested fixed my problem. Working as a Pocketnest Intern week 1: June 15th-June 21st    Pocketnest is a company that makes financial planning easier for people. The app is entirely free, and accessible.  I personally never used a financial planning app before, so this is a cool company to work with, considering I will be learning more than just the expected workload. I met with the founder Jessica Willis, as well as the other team members. I felt incredibly welcomed  and comfortable talking to them. I was very nervous to break out of my shell and talk to people. This is something I knew I would face during this internship, but something I am excited to work on and succeed. I was assigned 2 projects to start off with. One being a 30 second demo video to post on their website, and the other project involves video creation for the Pockenest app. Since this internship is currently held remotely, all videos must be done using graphics.
