Working as a Pocketnest Intern week 5: July 13th-July 19th:
Procrastination is hitting heavy right now, and whether it's because the weather is nice, or we are stuck at home and can't focus, it is quite challenging to overcome. I am a HUGE procrastinator , but i have dealt with it for so long that I now know how to manage working independently and working at home. In this week's blog, I will give out 5 tips on dealing with procrastination when working from home!
1. GET UP!
Working at home can be great! I love to lay down on the couch with my laptop, because comfort is important. Although it is comfortable, associating your workspace with a place where you go to relax isn't the best decision, and I've learned this the hard way. I tend to procrastinate a lot more when I am laying down, than when I do sitting up. Sitting down at a desk or changing your work environment can help motivate you. At my house, I like to do my work in my room, but for some people that can be a huge distraction. Try finding another quiet place to work if you feel like you aren't getting much work done in your current working environment.
2. TURN OFF YOUR PHONE
My phone is my biggest distraction. With apps like twitter, instagram, tik tok, and snapchat, it is hard to remove yourself. Putting your phone on "do not disturb", or turning it completely off really helps when it comes to getting your work done. If your phone needs to be on, I suggest sitting away from it so it will not distract you for the time being.
3. WRITE IN YOUR PLANNER
I do not know why this works for me, but writing things down helps me get motivated and on top of things. As soon as I start writing my goals, and to do list in my planner, I automatically start getting my work done. I like to keep a planner with me when I work so I can write notes and my upcoming schedule in it. I feel like writing a schedule down helps get a routine in check, and staying on top of things. I like to write how many hours I should work during the week, and create some free time days.
4.TAKE BREAKS
This is very important. Sometimes when I am working so long, I start to drift off and procrastinate on what I actually should be doing. Taking small breaks away from the computer screen can really get you back on your feet again. I like to take 15 minute breaks after every hour I work. It keeps me refreshed and energized, and also helps keep my creativity flowing. For me, I can't constantly work work work, I need to take some time off to rest and fuel my body.
5.DRESS UP
Okay, this one may sound silly, but trust me it helps. A way for me to start getting my work done when working from home, is getting dressed up as if I was going to go to school or work. I put on my jeans, and a comfortable fitting t-shirt. I like to put on some makeup, and feel "ready to go". I think this helps me feel like what I am doing on the computer has an actual purpose, and creates a sense of normalcy.
Working from home isn't easy for a lot of people, but there are ways to overcome this!

WEEK 6: Editing Tips
Working as a Pocketnest intern week 6: July 20th-July 26th: Only 3 more weeks left until my time as an intern comes to an end. I am so grateful to have this amazing opportunity. Here are some editing tips and tricks I found useful when editing a video that is a little bit outside of your comfort zone. Making a voiceover A challenge I encountered this week, was having to create a voiceover. This voiceover is supposed to go over graphic motion images for the in-app video. Creating a voiceover may seem innocent, but once you start, you realize how hard it actually is to create an engaging voiceover. Here are my tips on creating a voiceover. 1. Record on a good mic Investing in a decent mic is key to creating a professional voiceover. I bought mine off of amazon for $30, and it is easy to use. I like to record my voiceover on imovie, or my iphone. Then i like to replay it after it is done. Make sure not to stand too close to the mic, or it could sound muffled. 2.Keep going, don'
